Energy Therapy

Energy therapy can safely and effectively address a wide range of emotional and physical issues. Working with our energy systems, such as the body’s meridians, brings about an instantaneous and often surprising sense of relief. This modality can initiate a journey of deep personal insight and potentially lasting emotional freedom.

Emotional Freedom
Techniques (EFT)

Also referred to as 'tapping'

EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques, or colloquially known as “Tapping”) is a psychosensory modality that combines stimulation of energy (or “meridian”) acupressure points with aspects of cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) and neuro-linguistic programming (NLP). EFT can be used to quickly and safely address and process a wide variety of forms of physical and emotional distress. Many things happen as we “tap” on these meridians. For instance, as a negative aspect or emotion emerges and we choose to tap, we are immediately sending deactivating signals to the amygdala (the emotional processing center of the brain), allowing executive function to return and calm to be restored to our bodies—forging, in turn, new neural pathways and cognitive habits.

EFT is considered a short-term therapy because of its quick efficacy, and clients usually notice significant shifts within a single session (e.g.: levels of cortisol, the stress hormone, are reduced from anywhere between 24-50% on average within a single hour of tapping). Typically, optimal results are garnered between 10-20 sessions; it is usually recommended that one commit to at least several sessions in order to see more lasting results, especially in the case of older, deeper, or more complex issues.

Today, there exist over 300 peer-reviewed RCTs (randomized control trials), meta-analyses, and systematic reviews on the effectiveness of energy psychology, of which EFT is the most commonly studied method.

How To Tap

Gentle stimulation/tapping through these points is all that is necessary. For those who easily experience sensory overstimulation, try a touch-and-breathe (TAB) technique: gently touch one point and inhale and exhale, before moving to the next. Otherwise, a gentle tapping pressure is sufficient.

Key Tapping Points For EFT: 1) Side of hand, 2) Eyebrow, 3) Side of eye, 4) Under eye, 5) Under nose, 6) Chin, 7) Collarbone, 8) Under arm, 9) Crown of head

"Samara is amazing! I’ve always suffered from anxiety, but I instantly felt safe with Samara and confident in her professionalism and care. She was encouraging, attentive to my comfort level, and patiently explained how every step of the practice worked. Stress-management, boundary setting, catastrophizing: I had all but accepted that these were a permanent part of my life. But in our 4 months working together, Samara has shown me that progress is possible. Using the techniques we’ve practiced, I’ve regained control of my breathing, my pulse, and my posture. My shoulders have unclenched, I’m breathing better than I have in years,  and I have the confidence and composure to face my problems head-on. If you’re struggling the way I have, you owe it to yourself to give her a call."
